This is a recording of a live webinar that took place on July 30, 2020. Managing Phosphorus remains an important issue on organic farms. You will hear theory and practical research on the subject, as well as learn how to diagnose P deficiencies, how to replace P exported in Crops, P cycling using cover crops, and how to calculate a P budget for a field or farm.
Joanne Thiessen Martens, PhD Student, Department of Soil Science, University of Manitoba
Joanne Thiessen Martens has worked in organic farming research and extension for many years at the U of M and elsewhere, drawing together research results and on-farm experiences to develop guidelines for organic farmers. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Manitoba, looking at phosphorus dynamics and the potential for struvite as a fertilizer in organic systems.
